Walk Off The Earth // The Nick Rayns LCR, UEA - 04.04.2014

Camera2 kicked the night off and as the only support, they certainly didn’t pull any half measures. They filled their set not only with some great tracks, but the stage was set with a large monitor at either side, presenting music videos in sync with the tracks live play. Along with lighting that would put the entire Global Gathering Festival to shame, it was an explosive opening. Walk Off The Earth hit the stage and the magic begun, with an equally lengthy, uplifting and energetic set. They brought their whole bag of tricks; lights, confetti canons, giant balloons falling from the rafters, smoke canons, a variety of inspiring back drops and stage hands that could catch a flying instrument like a BOSS.

Although it was a bit of a shame that the fivesome performed their infamous version of 'Somebody That I Used To Know' towards the back of the stage rather than at the centre of it, it was nonetheless amazing to witness the harmonious bunch performing with one guitar between them. The set was brought to a close with a full stage - the band invited on a large majority of the good folks that put in all the backstage, plus a few crowd members plucked from the audience.

But that wasn’t the end of the night for the band or the lucky few that stuck around a while after, as the band delayed their exit to meet and greet the delighted audience. Are there no lengths that this band will go to, to be awesome? Nope, so keep buying tickets folks, because their shows will just keep getting better and better. Everything about this night was vis-u-al, but even Stevie Wonder would have enjoyed the magic…that’s how good it was, seeing is believing but hearing is feeling.
