Chase & Status
Security seemed to have stepped up their game, since the last Newmarket Nights I attended - heavies patrol the crowd and there was even a sniffer dog in sight at one point. Chase & Status are staying true to form, with their ability to create infectious Mexican waves of the feet for all audience members. Me and my drinking buddy took up our dancing spots close to the track bar, giving us a lot more room for making shapes, bouncing and all other approved dance steps. The fellas blasted out a couple of new tunes to every classic, so I'm not gonna lie - more then half of the set was new to my ears. There was still a good atmosphere in the crowd and no one seemed bothered about not knowing all the tracks, me included. The fact that they seemed to have dropped End Credits from the set didn't seem right, a little upsetting if I'm honest. But, after all, this is the new set, so I'm sure all will become familiar again. Chase & Status have got it, they've always had it, they'll never lose it, and you can only know what it is if you go see them.
