Peter Pan

Sid Sloane from CBeebies rocks out Pharrell’s Happy

Peter Pan

Well, panto season is upon us once again and the Theatre Royal Norwich is treating us this year with the classic family favourite Peter Pan.  Featuring Corrie’s Kevin Kennedy as the villainous Captain Hook and Charlotte Baptie as the ever young Peter Pan, there’s stellar back up from Richard Gauntlett as a show stealing Smee. The show tells the age old of story of Peter Pan and the lost boys, with Peter and Wendy flying around on wires with her young brothers in tow. There are a few musical and story twists along the way, with some added local references (Norwich’s new and confusing to say the least road layout around the theatre and the ever growing animosity between Norwich and Ipswich football teams). It’s worth seeing for some of the musical numbers alone; kicking off with a medley of old school London East End anthems, Sid Sloane from CBeebies rocks out Pharrell’s Happy and Peter even blasts out Let It Go from Disney’s Frozen to keep the kids happy. All in all its what you want and more from a panto including the classic “oh yes he is, oh no he isn’t”. It’s the sort of family friendly entertainment that this season was made for, so take everyone along for a really good night out. It’s the first panto I’ve been to in years, and I must admit I cant wait to see what next year’s offering is.

9/10
