Alien Ant Farm @ the Waterfront

Not bad, not bad at all

Alien Ant Farm @ the Waterfront

Kicking off the first gig of the year at the Waterfront it’s the return of Alien Ant Farm on the 15th anniversary tour for their Anthology album.  They were supported by The Dirty Youth; if you're a fan of Paramore, then this lot should go straight in to your basket. They kicked the evening off with some quality grunge/rock tunes, their songs Hurricane and Fright standing out for me as some of the best new music I’ve heard for a while.

The next band to grace the stage were InMe, hailing from Essex, who seemed to have a large collection of fans in the venue, rocking the crowd with a variety of classic tunes from their six albums and kicking off the crowd surfing, which delighted the security staff!

Then it was the main event, Alien Ant Farm blasting out on stage as if it hadn’t really been 15 years since they released Anthology into the world. The capacity crowd went ballistic as the four piece from California treated the audience to its debut album in its entirety. They belted out the crowd pleaser Movies as well as the lesser known album tracks which everyone seemed to get down to. The lead singer Dryden Mitchell seemed quite humbled that the gigs around the country keep selling out, thanking the audience on more than one occasion. There were bodies flying everywhere when the ended the show with their swan song Smooth Criminal showing the crowd they still have what it takes to rock the party, and then some…

Not bad, not bad at all.
