Ducking Punches @ NAC

Such a great show.

Ducking Punches @ NAC

The masters of diving jabs closed their Fizzy Brain release tour in Norwich, with a fitting end.

Lightyear’s, Chas Palmer-Williams appeared on stage first. He pulled out a comical acoustic set, living up to the title of special guest and kicking the night off to a great giggly get go. Bangers picked up the Palmer-Williams baton with a modern grunge sound, keeping the bar high and setting the stage for the main event.

And then came dessert, and Ducking Punches nailed it after kicking that limelight hogging Chihuahua off stage of course. There were a few technical difficulties, although dealt with well and certainly humanising their set. Sophie took the opportunity to say some very important words about International Women’s Day (earlier in the week) and gender equality as a whole, and she dedicated a solo track to all the creative aspiring women out there, met with applause by both sexes. The connection between the band and crowd was pretty tight, with a few more important words from Dan on mental health and the alarmingly raising rate of male suicide for under 30’s before belting out the thought provoking Six Years. They ended the show and release tour on a massive high festival style, as the room filled with balloons popping all over the place in no time, along with other blow up goodies and every crowd’s favourite, confetti!

There were smiles all round, on and off stage after such a great show.
