Benjamin Francis Leftwich @ the Brickmakers
A timeless trance of Leftwich lullabies
So The Brickmakers was where it was at on Thursday, not only hosting Benjamin 'softly sung' Francis 'acoustic guitar' Leftwich’s gig but also the first heat of the Mental 2 The Masses semi-finals. It’s safe to say there were an interesting mix of people around The Brickies for the night.
Milly Hirst started the night off with a soft acoustic style, in support of Benjamin. She created the perfect atmosphere for Benjamin’s return to the stage and Norwich with a lovely lengthy set. Since releasing Last Smoke Before the Snowstorm in 2011, life has been a swirl of both good and heartbreaking events for Benjamin Francis Leftwich, who now seems a stronger more confident man on and off the stage since his last appearance in Norwich three and a half years ago at the Arts Centre. This time around, Benjamin played a varied mix of older tracks along with new tracks from his After The Rain release, keeping the audience captivated for well over an hour in a timeless trance of Leftwich lullabies. Benjamin brought a perfect end to the night with an encore of two tracks, ending on Atlas Hands. His tour continues around Great Britain, Europe, Canada and the States until late July, so if you missed his Brickies set there's still time to catch him this year!
