Around The World In 80 Days

This story was one of my favourites growing up so I was intrigued to see it come to life on stage. With a cast of only eight the performance was extremely high energy at all times with every character (aside from Fogg and Passepartout) chopping and changing continually throughout the show. Their skill and precision was absolutely impeccable as they took the audience on the most wonderful adventure around the globe.

A large multifaceted staircase made up the central focus of the set throughout the show and each time Fogg and Passepartout travelled by train, steamer, sledge or even elephant parts of the set moved and changed forming the vehicles. I also really enjoyed the way in which the cast brought on small toy boats and toy trains that indicated the kind of trip they were taking.

The entire show was formed around an immensely complicated soundtrack that each actor seemed perfectly in tune with. Every slapstick fist fight, a storm sea, a trip to an opium den or the hustle and bustle of a busy market was played out over the audience and the actors moved and corresponded with the sounds. It was super impressive and extremely effective.

A fast paced magical adventure of a lifetime!
