We're Going On A Bear Hunt

We're Going On A Bear Hunt

The infamous adventure tale that was so strongly embedded into our childhoods was brought to life at the Playhouse this weekend. The cast of four worked in perfect harmony to present the characters that we all know and love.

The dad, the little girl, the little boy, the dog and baby too! All had beautiful singing voices and such great dance moves throughout. The actor who played the dog was also one of the most multi-faceted musicians I have ever seen, playing everything from guitar to cowbell to accompany the gorgeous, adorable sing along songs.

The way in which each scene was created was truly ingenious, done simply but so very effectively, and judging by the sqeals of delight from all the little humans in the audience it was well recieved by all.

It's hard to say but I think my favourite part was the creation of the river, the deep, cold river. From a bunch of blue and green towels and  load of blue rubber buckets filled with water the river was established. The fun loving family then proceeded to paddle, wade and swam to the other side. All of a sudden they all produced water pistols and super soakers and zoomed around the theatre squirting the delighted children who all errupted into a frenzy of excitement!

The bear himself also caused quite the reaction when he finally made his appearance after scaring us all with his big growls backstage. When they reached the cave he burst out, about 8ft tall, mega fluffy with enormous paws! I wasn't sure if  the family should run away or just cuddle him!

Energetic, creative and uplifting!
