Magnificent Seven

Denzel Washington stars as a gunslinger who recruits a posse of outsiders to protect a small town from a wealthy and violent land developer. It's all action and no characterisation so you may as well watch the 1960 original, or even better, Kurosawa's sublime Seven Samurai on which that was based.

 Bridget Jones' Baby

Bridget puts her career on hold when she finds out she's pregnant, but the father may be one of two men (kind of like Mamma Mia! but without Pierce Brosnan mooing his way through SOS). Chock-full of British comedy talent and F-bombs a plenty. For fans of the series only.

Deepwater Horizon

A dramatisation of the 2010 disaster where an offshore drilling rig exploded creating the worst oil spill in US history. It works as a disaster movie in the vein of The Poseidon Adventure or The Towering Inferno, but considering this was such a recent real life event, more effort could've gone into developing the characters as a mark of respect to those that lost their lives.

Don't Breathe

Three thieves hatch a plan to break into the house of a blind man and steal a small fortune, oblivious to the fact that he is not as helpless as he seems. Director Fede Alvarez offers some visual flair and it's easy to see why Sam Raimi is such a fan, but the plot has some fairly big holes and goes on a full-on mental safari in the third act. Worth a watch if you like violent set pieces and gory exploitation.
