Kerrrang Tour @ UEA
Five bands hit UEA with Kerrrang
As I enter the LCR, I am hit with musty sweat, teenagers with kohl panda eyes and more importantly, old men. This is obviously already a gig to remember.
Beartooth aim to please. Really. They jump and scream in all directions, but lack stage presence and that vital connection a band must have with an audience. By the end of their set, the noise they have labelled as “music” has some grounding, but by that point, it is a little too late. (4/10)
Bury Tomorrow have more of a response from the crowd, but at this point it doesn't matter because my ears are bleeding from overly distorted guitars. I cannot peel my eyes away from the excessive use of strobe lights. During their set, they struggled due to technical issues. (5.5/10)
Although only having a 15 minute set, Young Guns flipped the show around entirely with their notorious playful attitude. Their sound was clean and clear, showcasing two singles from their forthcoming album Ones and Zeroes. (8.5/10)
We Are The In Crowd were, by all means necessary, aesthetically pleasing. Taylor Jardin seemed to lose her voice through the band's 40 minute set, opting to encourage the crowd to sing her lines. This became repetitive over time, and destroyed the atmosphere once again. (5.5/10)
After We Are The In Crowd exited the stage, I anticipated a lack luster finale, but was happily surprised by Don Broco who started strong with rhythmic melodies, which worked well with their down to earth attitude. A clear winner of the night, their set list offered variety and was ultimately, the highlight of the night. #DoTheWalk (9/10)
