Floral Image
They look the part, they sound the part, they are the part. They are the real deal.
Floral Image, our finest of sons of the fine City of Norwich are back in the room and there is already a truly wonderful (vibrant) buzz in the air, you can feel the excitement of the occasion in the atmosphere in and around the venue from the minute that the NAC doors open, it’s quite electric and once again it’s a sell-out gig with people getting turned away at the door on the night.
First up, we are blessed with two wonderful support acts. The Mink are a quite delightful band that are fast developing a very envious following. Hot on their cowboy heels are Trip Westerns a band that are in possession of many a fine tune, they both, most certainly set the tone for the main event. It’s an impressive line-up.
At long last Floral Image’s eagerly anticipated debut album ‘Gone Down Meadowland’ is out for release and it’s sounding absolutely amazing. It really doesn’t disappoint.
The place is buzzing now as they enter the stage to the Grandstand theme tune, they kick off proceedings with its opening tracks Meadowland and The Dream.
Burning 305 and then Howling Dog Song absolutely blast the roof off the place, such is the energy and adrenaline from the band, they are already demonstrating this evening that they’ve created a quite fantastic catalogue of banging tunes, fit enough to blow your socks off.
Even with a trapped nerve in my neck tonight. Once again, I feel like it’s an incredibly special thing, a real sense of occasion to be witnessing Floral Image ‘live’ in the flesh. It’s just such an amazing evening, quite electrifying stuff, they are such an incredibly interesting live act both musically and visually.
There are people in the crowd tonight that haven’t shaken their thing quite like this for a mighty long time and just like me, they’ll be aching for the next couple of days no doubt! But it will have been worth it.
Tonight, they have turned the Arts Centre into their very own Boogie Town, it’s been a very sweaty psychedelic feast, that’s been enjoyed by all.
So that’s another fine frenzied homecoming of a gig under their belt, that’s now tucked firmly in the bag, so what next for the psychedelic groovers from Norfolk?
Well, if these boys are not rocking out in bigger venues during the next twelve months, then I’ll eat my flared trousers. They are surely on the verge of something big and with it they’ll be needing a much bigger mosh pit based on tonight’s performance. I literally cannot contain my excitement in seeing where their musical journey takes them too next.
They look the part, they sound the part, they are the part. They are the real deal. It is indeed, quite intoxicating and dynamic stuff.
Next stop?
Catch them while you can at the Holloway in Norwich on July the 26th, 2025.
