David O'Doherty

Doubled over laughing more or less continuously for two and a half hours is pretty much the best way to round off a week in my humble opinion. I didn’t want this show to end and throughout the performance I just kept thinking I just want David O’Doherty to be my best friend that I hang out with every day for the rest of my life!

The show was opened with a humorous little ditty played on his miniature 90’s style electronic keyboard accompanied by O’Doherty introducing himself and getting to know the audience; a girl in the front row became the target for the rest of the performance which amused everyone else greatly.

A highlight for me was his take on how the internet has morphed and changed from an incredible telescope through which we could learn about life and the world and all the amazing possibilities that the universe has to offer into an enormous shitpipe that just pumps a constant flow of shit directly into our eyes, nose and mouth and even though we don’t like having shit spurted at us continually we are all so addicted we now have no choice but to just submit. So horrible. So true.

O’Doherty’s jokes are funny, this much is true, but his delivery is simply superb. His honesty, his randomness, the fact that sometimes he sits on the floor, the singing and the brilliant storytelling all put together is just a cracking combination of hilarity that I just couldn’t get enough of.
