Vic Allen - The Missing Piece EP
Norwich based singer/songwriter Vic Allen comes out with all guns blazing with her new EP. Released toward the end of 2016, it’s a mixture of five songs that are both thought provoking and musically intriguing. Bird of Prey, for instance, is a real foot-tapper with a huge chorus. Real, by contrast, is a beautiful piano ballad overlaid with strings.
This particular music genre is hotly contested, with so many very good artists vying for your attention, so to stand out takes something special, and this EP is just that. The production hasn’t been overdone, and you could imagine being sat in the same room if you close your eyes and just listen.
The most impressive thing though is that everything seems to flow effortlessly. Nothing is forced, and it’s a truly organic experience to drift from track to track, wandering aimlessly with no predetermined direction or destination. When music is this simple there’s nowhere to hide so it better be damned good, and that’s exactly what this EP is. If you’re looking for The Missing Piece in your music collection, then there’s a distinct possibility that this is it.
