Skyfight - Poppy EP

Skyfight - Poppy EP

Skyfight are a punk rock quartet, hailing from Cambridgeshire, who have some great energy and a ton of attitude. Towards the end of last year, they released a 3 track EP simply entitled Poppy, recorded for the Royal British Legion, and it’s taken this long to find its way here. Postal service west of King’s Lynn is shocking at times.

The EP opens with the lead song, which eases you in gently with a stripped back intro, before opening out into something a lot heavier, telling the story of a young girl called Poppy no less. The song Wait For Me pulls no such punches, delivering a hammer blow right from the off.

The final song of the three, She Shouts, is a short sharp shock, with a distinct hint of Blondie’s heavier tracks, and the vocal style to go with it. Maria was the song that first sprung to mind, but you’ll have to make up your own minds. The production is minimal, and the whole thing sounds a little rough, but that style suits the band perfectly.

The band are currently working on their next release, which is in the process of finalising the songs before going into the studio. Keep an eye out for them.
