Royal Blood - Typhoons
Royal Blood are back with a bang, and a very big one at that. As soon as you press play, you’re met with a funky opener, with their trademark catchy choruses. That feel continues throughout the whole album, naturally. It’s pure stadium rock, and every song is an absolute monster in its own right.
With songs of this quality, it’s possible that any one of them can stick in your head, and everyone that listens will most likely find themselves remembering one or two tracks in particular but listen to it again and you may feel others deserve more attention. It’s one of those albums that you can listen to over and over and take away something different every time. That’s hard to do, but they’ve achieved itnonetheless.
If Typhoons does anything on the whole, it merely cements their position as one of the best arena rock bands that the UK has to offer right now. I imagine that listening to any of these tracks live is going to be epic, as are many others that have gone before. Adding more ammunition to your already powerful arsenal is never a bad thing, making Royal Blood a powerhouse on the live circuit. Speaking of which, they’reembarking on a huge arena tour to bring this album to a live audience.
I really struggle to find fault with this album, no matter how hard I try, and even after several playthroughs it remains strong. I don’t doubt that others might be a little more picky, but to my ears, it’s absolutely excellent. Of course, as with everything, art is subjective, so rather than take my word for it, go out and listen for yourself, but for fans of the band, it’s simply business as usual. If you’ve not listened to Royal Blood before, this is a great place to start.
