Morganway - No Tomorrows EP

Morganway have been on the local circuit for a while now, and this EP is the first “proper” release, having put out a collection of demos entitled “The Old Forge Sessions” a year or so ago. This is a million miles from that, with some polish being added in the production stage.

It’s not been overworked though, and the core elements of the band haven’t been lost in the mix. Up until earlier this year Callum (vocals & acoustic guitar) & Kieran (electric guitar) Morgan, along with Matt Brocklehurst on keys and Yve Mary B on vocals, had been operating as a four-piece band, but adding Steven Tinmouth’s drums, it gives the band a much fuller sound.

The EP consists of five new songs which have a much grittier sound than their earlier material does, but the harmonies are still there, although Kieran’s guitar is more pronounced than before. Callum has also taken a bigger role on vocals, and his voice compliments Yve’s beautifully. Their live performances are where they’re strongest of course, but this EP does a good job of capturing the raw energy of their “dirty country” style. Top drawer stuff this.
