Lower Than Atlantis - Safe In Sound

My first foray into this band comes in the shape of the new album due out on 3rd February, and you know what? It isn’t half bad. In fact I’d go so far as to say it’s really quite good. This sits firmly in the pop/rock genre occupied by other acts such as You Me At Six and Kings of Leon etc. This means they’re already in good company, and when compared to them, this album stands up alongside them. That said, it stands up on its own too. The opening track, Had Enough, sets up the tone of the album really well, and it’s an absolute banger, played with aggression and intent. It’s actually the heavier tracks that stick out the most, but all of the songs are catchy enough to keep you hooked. Boomerang is a slightly more laid-back affair but still up-tempo enough to keep your foot tapping, before launching into the juggernaut that is Work For It. Overall this album has a lot going for it, and it’s most certainly well worth your time checking out if you’re a fan of the other bands mentioned earlier. This will be a regular on my car stereo for sure.

9/10
