InMe – The Pride (Pledge Music)
InMe are a band I have come across many times yet never properly listened to, for this reason I was very pleased when I was asked to review their new album, ‘The Pride’. Opening track ‘Reverie Shores’ kicks off the album perfectly with sweeping guitars and heavy backing, giving an insight into the songs to follow. The seemingly quite short 10 songs manage to create a welcome illusion of something larger with their harmonious layers and the sheer ease in which the band manage to infuse snippets of metal, rock and even a little techno to form an album which, by definition, places itself way within the threshold for main-stage metal. Saying this, it did take me a few listens in order to really get into the quite distinct style the band’s songs have and I think it’s quite possible many people might actually fail to notice the band’s merits and in fact dislike the record. Track ‘Silver Womb’, is much slower and vocally led than the other tracks on the album, acting along with the fantastic ‘Escape To Mysteriopa’ as a chance for the listener to breathe and the band to showcase their musical talents. ‘The Pride’ is a well put together rock album that I recommend to anyone who enjoys the likes of Funeral For a Friend.
