Bonobo - The North Borders Tour Live

The last 18 months has seen Simon Green aka Bonobo embark on what has been dubbed as a career defining tour; 175 shows over 180,000 miles in 30 countries in front of no less than 2 million people.

What I love about Bonobo is that he has never attempted to replicate an album; the previous five manage to keep his distinctive sound yet each is much different to the last. 2013 saw the release of The North Borders which was no let down and a fantastic listen. Thoughts stray towards the fact as to whether there is any real need to release this live album? After listening, the answer is a definite yes.

This is a chance for everyone to experience a unique blend of electronic and live music. A collective talent of musicians and vocalists are masterfully put on display showing you the genuine difference a live performance can bring to what is already beautiful music.

The moment you press 'play' you are welcomed with the unbelievably catchy Cirrus with complex layers that can only make you tap your feet and nod your head with an enjoyment that continues throughout the record. Add a number of recognisable tracks from his back catalogue and stand out melting live vocals from Szjerdene, and what you have here are Bonobo & co at their best on show.

This tour will conclude at Alexandra Palace, which I can't wait to see, but until then this cheeky monkey has given us this beauty of a record.
