Bohemian Rhapsody

Get ready for Bohemian Rhapsody to rock you into a frenzy this autumn.

Rami Malek (Mr Robot) stars as Freddie Murcury in this shimmering Queen biopic that promises to be a four-octave bonanza of outrageous theatrics, incredibly tight costumes and unflinching honesty in dealing with both the rock legend’s sheer, flaming procative brilliance and his deep personal battle with loneliness and struggle for acceptance.
It’s a tad surreal that this flick is presented to us by the director of X-Men and writer of Darkest Hour, but then films are the champions of surprising us and, anyway, stranger things have happened – Ben Affleck has won two Oscars for script writing, so let's get a little perspective here.

Malek, assimilating Mercury’s fierce moustache, larger-than-life pizzazz and jawline that could chop wood looks well-tipped to become the next Oscar darling. Bringing la creme de la creme of cinematic dairy products, the trailers also tantalise us with Tom Hollander, Aidan Gillen and Mike Myers (who was responsible for giving Bohemian Rhapsody a second birth in the charts with Wayne's World and who is now, in a brilliant twist of poetic justice, having the life breathed back into his deflated career by the self same song).

It seems clear that this is film that wants to break free from the strata of mediocre rock biographies and hopefully will not dash our expectations and bite the dust.
You’d be stone cold crazy not to take your peepers to this cinematic event. It looks set to a true mesmeric show-stopper.
