Blux J

Blux J

21 year old Blux J is a man on a mission. Setting himself the target of a song a week for the next two years is a pretty tall order. But passion and desire are big motivators and with a hatful of classy tracks already released in 2017, Blux J believes he’ll succeed.

WHO

Blux J aka Jordan Gurney grew up in Norwich and was inspired by his older brothers to get into music. “I spent a lot of time at school in the music bloc, teaching myself guitar” said Blux, “mainly grunge and Punk at the time. My brothers were already DJing and they gave me a broken laptop which they put Reason on. That was the start. Soon I was producing House music and started doing DJ sets in Norwich.” Over the last year Blux J has upped his game and self-produced some great tracks. Each one shining a light on different aspects of his life – and in that field he has a lot to say.

WHAT

Anyone making electronic, atmospheric RnB and Hip Hop has to have something to say if they want people to listen. And Blux J has many stories to tell. “As I hit my late teens, life took over,” he said. “I had family problems, lived in London for a while before moving back to Norfolk. For 2 years I had nowhere of my own to live, surviving on friends’ sofas.” A relationship, a child, a break up, a new relationship another child on the way. Through all the good and bad times, the one thing that kept constant was his music.

THE FUTURE

Jordan takes his responsibilities seriously. A job helps pay for his family, he sees his son regularly – and has managed to put money aside to improve the equipment he uses. “It’s not top class, but it’s meant I can make my music sound better.”

It’s not just the production that has changed. Putting his own past into his present tracks has given them a depth that makes you want to know more about the man himself. Tracks like the latest So Long, speak of a life that others may themselves relate to. The truth is there for all to hear – and the story has not ended. In fact Jordan says it has only just started and he is testing himself to do more by producing that track a week for the next two years. “I want people to fall in love with my catalogue,” says Blux – and with a strong musical and lyrical element to his work, there’s every chance you will.
