BBC Introducing Presents...Vol 1

There are strokes of genius scattered across this collection. Some taking the raw energy of a live performance and upping the antsy of tracks, which are lack lustre in their studio recording format. Although boasting a range of highly successful artists, this album fundamentally highlights artists who are able to connect with their audiences, regardless of whether they are fans or not, as seen in Two Door Cinema Club's live rendition of What You Know, and those who struggle to alight the crowd with their stage presence. In light of this, there are streaks of mind numbingly soft songs, which bring the tone of the collection down. Without a doubt, this makes some songs very jarring and hard to keep listening to such as Sweet Disposition by Temper Trap, a song which encompassed the soul of summer, but is reduced to a state of melancholy. Ultimately the pinnacle of compilation lives and breathes in Down With The Trumpets, performed live at BBC Radio 1's Hackney Weekend. Completely immersive, the track urges you to have some admiration for the band as front men alongside their music swagger.  In spite of the best intentions to promote new and upcoming artists, what this cluster of music has achieved is just short of this.

8.5/10
