A Night At The Musicals (NNF)
A Night at the Musicals, with its extravagant costumes is a fun, intimate start to the festival.
This year’s Norfolk & Norwich Festival brings Le Gateau Chocolat and Jonny Woo to the Adnams Spiegeltent for a glitzy mash up of musical hits. A Night at the Musicals sees the drag duo strut and spar for the spotlight, while busting out hit after hit of big ballsy ballads and pitch perfect duets.
The light-hearted silliness of the show is skilfully choreographed to showcase Le Gateau Chocolat’s spine-tingling voice and Jonny Woo’s comedy prowess. Le Gateau’s range reaches depths that drive goose bumps up the back of my neck. Jonny Woo induces screams of laughter with his perfectly animated lip syncing and exaggerated characters. The pair encourage the audience to take part and feel involved in the show (anyone on the front row – beware!). Young and old clap and sing along joyfully.
Shows at the Spiegeltent are always a treat – with its wide Vaudevillian style booths (perfect for snuggling into with drinks or snacks) and long velvet curtains swathing the interior. The stage, almost in the round and lit with moon-like globes, invites cabaret and glamour. A Night at the Musicals, with its extravagant costumes is a fun, intimate start to the festival. Catch it for one last night and be prepared to sing.
