Spectral Sonics returns to The Holloway to conjure the hidden haunted heart of East Anglia through vocal experimentation, electronics, field recordings, guitar noise, sound synthesis, amplified objects, accompanied by film and ritual action.
Charlotte Arculus is a bag lady, an improviser and sound artist working with experimental voice, electroacoustics and field recording. She spends her time walking, listening, collaborating, yowling and making tiny rituals. Searching for beautiful juxtapositions and celebrating the messiness of improvisation, Charlotte uses aleatoric methods of chance and divination to navigate sound journeys through intersections of acoustic, analogue and digital media. With posthuman/feminist material sensibilities, Charlotte works with tricksy sonic assemblages that push back at the human honouring the role of machines as playful partners.

John Bowers is an independent artist-researcher and improvising musician. He works with modular synthesizers, home-brew electronics, reconstructions of antique image and sound-making devices, self-made software, field recordings, esoteric sensor systems, experimental film, and spoken text. He often combines performance with the investigation of selected sites to research an imagined discipline he calls ‘mythogeosonics’. Amongst many collaborations, he is part of the noise-drone-rock trio Tonesucker and the improvising voice and electronics duo Pauper Palace with Jackie Montague.

Jackie Montage is a spoken word poet, writer, performer and film maker based in Ipswich, UK. At a recent performance at the Holloway, Norwich she was described by Outline Magazine as “a genuinely unique performer.” Jackie sees the extraordinary in the ordinary and her work often dives headlong into an interrogation of how the cultural, political, historical and personal meet. She has been published by Earth Island Books in the 10 Poets Anthology and has a collection of poetic works Strawberries And The Cream published by Brainwaves Are Better Than Perms. Jackie has ongoing collaborations with Hugh Metcalfe at Hundred Years Gallery London, Klinker Club Frome Somerset and Café Oto London. In November 2025 she was main support for Salena Godden at New Wolsey Theatre Ipswich. With John Bowers she has made Vacant Possession (2025) which was an official selection for Pebbles Undergound Film Festival. Most recently Pauper Palace, an improvised electronics and vocal duo with John Bowers debuted at The Fool in Berlin.
