This too will pass…………(posted 16th November 2020)

As this Eastern proverb says.

But we have to learn from history and we have been here before, 100 years ago in fact with the Spanish Flu epidemic.  (No it did not originate in Spain).  Then it was more serious than today, they did not have the scientific advances, medicines and infrastructure we have today.   Even in those desperate times they did get back to normal, otherwise there would never have been the roaring 20’s .

We are still a way off returning to normal, but with the announcement this week of a potential vaccine, and I would guess a few others will announce potential vaccines over the next few weeks, then there is light at the end of the tunnel and not the main beam of a train coming towards us.  Although vaccines may not help the current second wave of infections, hopefully we can look forward to the shape of normality start to form during the early part of 2021

Firstly, let us take a moment to thank all those who have helped us through this and will continue to do so as it carries on.  So a massive thanks to the superb members of the public, NHS, essential workers, food banks and those spreading random acts of kindness.  Equally there have been those with well meaning words such as “We are all in this together”  but their actions are not always consistent to those words. So lets try not to thank them.

We have so much missed the live music, theatre, festivals and catching up with friends in pubs and restaurants.  So lets look forward …….

2021 will be a bumper year for gigs from late spring onwards, gigs will come back strong, as hopefully will festivals, cinema, theatre and spontaneous entertainment.  At Outline we have done our best to keep album reviews ticking over and updates via our instagram and other paltforms, so from me a massive thank you to our volunteers helping that.

I am delighted to announce this December, via our instagram, we will again run the Outline Advent Calendar. Your chance to win gig tickets, meals for two, and so many other prizes, so keep an eye out from December 1st, IG outline_norwich

So just to give you a flavour of what is to come from late spring onwards check out some gig reviews here from gig pix earlier this year, also check out theatre reviews.

It is at times like this it will be important to support local independent business  (Outline is one of them) and so once normality starts to take the shape please support your local pubs, music venues and the wonderful local people who love ya..

We hope to produce a physical print edition during mid January and then go forward from then.  Although we do not seem to register on radar of the local public sector for help and support, we will carry on doing what we do. Interestingly I have heard a number of times that the public health message hopes to get out to a younger audience, but all the Covid information I have seen has been with local newspapers, radio and national titles. Clearly a first choice of younger people.

But there again WTF do I know.
