The Kabeedies - Soap (Fierce Panda)
In 2009 when ‘Rumpus’, The Kabeedies’ debut album, was released the record seemed giddy with excitement, comparable to a child fuelled with cheap candy floss who’s spent too much time on a fairground. Now, three years later, with a much more mature sound, the second album, ‘Soap’, presents haunting tracks like ‘Bones’ and ‘LT’ which emulate the eeriness of the same fairground, now deserted, as it reflects their development into much more refined musicians. They consistently maintain their recognisable guitar riffs and effortless vocals but administer a much more textured record with the development of instruments which provide an infectious thrill. Whilst still capturing their trademark energy from live shows with tracks such as ‘Come Out of the Blue’, it’s this energy which allows them to remain one of the best live bands to just dance to if nothing else. This local band, sourced from Norfolk and Suffolk, they live up to the self-acquired high standard of both their shows and heralded first album.
