Pinky Pinky - Turkey Dinner
Pinky Pinky are a young trio from Los Angeles who grew up together as childhood friends and this closeness transfers into their music with new release Turkey Dinner, their debut long-player after a couple of well-received EPs.

It opens brightly with a dreamy, summery pop-meets-garage-rock feel on 'My Friend Sean' which sets the mood. It's a melodic and musically upbeat album full of memorable hooks and riffs and features some cracking tunes with a raw, live feel that is quite vibrant. Not bound by genres there are influences of garage-rock, punk, psych, riot grrrl and 60s vocal groups. You get the sense they are doing just what the heck they want to do and had fun recording it too. Good on them.
Pinky Pinky have a refreshing energy and whilst Turkey Dinner may have one or two moments which don't quite hit the spot for me that's more than made up for with a few absolute gems such as 'All the Birds' and the album closer, the belter that is 'Loose Change' which features piano and brass and builds into a brilliantly riotous glam blowout to finish with.
