Outline Job Vacancy: Editor

We’re looking for a highly creative, self-motivated individual who’s passionate about Norwich and its social scene, to take the editorial helm of the good ship Outline Magazine.

As Norwich’s much loved free social guide, the successful candidate must be able to represent the city’s diverse population, and be able to write in a tone that Norwich’s many different personalities will be able to relate to.

As well as strengthening and championing the magazine, the editor’s job is to translate those values across Outline’s digital channels, maintaining a strong social media presence, and creating extra content for the website, Outlineonline.co.uk

The chosen candidate must have writing experience, and a proven track record of working to deadlines. Ideally, they will have their finger on the broad musical pulse, and a strong sympathy towards design.

Norwich is your oyster.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES / REQUIREMENTS

- You will be able to write extremely engaging, audience appropriate content, to demand.

- You will coordinate a team of writing and photography volunteers, who will assist you in the generation of content.

- You will be able to keep to a self-imposed diary, with monthly deadlines to hit, and be able to keep on top of the schedules of your freelancers.

- You will maintain the strong relationships we have with venues, PR contacts and advertisers.

- Growing and maintaining Outline’s social media presence, always trying to be on top of the latest digital trends.

- Working with the publisher to ensure that the commercial implications of the magazine are being addressed, occasionally liaising with advertisers yourself.

- Working with the designer to continue the high standard of editorial design.

- Adhering to, and being an advocate for Outline’s brand values, acting as representative of the brand at events, and other public-facing situations.

- You will be responsible for minor design tasks in the creation of material for the website. Prior working knowledge of Photoshop is ideal. Experience with Adobe Illustrator, InDesign and Dreamweaver would be preferred.

- You will be technically confident, and have experience using CMS systems, like Wordpress / Drupal / Joomla etc.

- You will be required to assist in the distribution of the magazine.
