MØ
2017 was generally pretty rubbish. What are your hopes and wishes for 2018?
I hope people to continue to wake up and not make decisions based on fear. On a personal level, I'm excited to release a new album!
You’ve worked with electronic outfit Major Lazer several times. What is it that draws you to collaborating with them?
I think it is important in pop music to find this undercurrent in it that is fresh and a little raw. Major Lazer had that, and I love working with them for that reason. That, and the fact that I've been a fan since long before we started working together
Who else have you most enjoyed collaborating with, and why?
I’ve been lucky to work with some amazing people who are very good at their craft. I’m on tour with Cashmere Cat right now and it’s such a great vibe. He's another person who can take a pop song but twist it in the right way.
In 2015, your song Lean On was named Spotify’s most-streamed track of all time. What’s your most streamed track – the song you play over and over again?
I am playing Love Galore by SZA over and over again
I understand that you’re a huge punk fan. Do you think you’ll ever release a punk record?
I have before with my old band, and I don’t doubt that I will again!
Can you turn us on to some great new music from you home country, Denmark?
Jada!
I hear you’re a big Spice Girl fan. If you had to pick a favourite, who would it be?
Why, Mel C, of course! She was my favorite growing up and she still is. She was the one I always identified the most with.
You’re playing in Norwich on 5th April. What can local MØ fans expect?
Without giving too much away, they can expect me to go crazy and give it my all! They can also expect my wonderful band
MO is playing at UEA on 5th April
