Luke Sital-Singh // The Fire Inside
His particular brand of musical finesse just doesn’t quite transfer to the album.
With a few tours and support sets under his belt (if you didn’t catch him when he was last in our fine city, make sure you head down to the Arts Centre on 7th September for the first date of his new tour), three EPs and a few singles to boot, you’d be forgiven for thinking Luke Sital-Singh been around for more than a couple of years. As it happens though, this chap first appeared in 2012.
Some of the tracks on the debut LP will be familiar to fans – ‘Fail For You’ was Sital Singh’s first EP, and his three singles make up the first three tracks as well. These are some of the best tracks on there, but we’ve heard them before. This is a man who works well in intimate settings. It was a beautiful experience watching him perform in the Waterfront Studio supporting Fossil Collective. Hunt out ‘Film Songs’, an acoustic covers selections available on Spotify, to see more of what Luke Sital-Singh has to offer. But there’s something about his particular brand of musical finesse which just doesn’t quite transfer to the album. Don’t get me wrong; there’s emotional depth a-plenty and some impressive vocals to boot, but something tells me bigger and better things are yet to come.
