Enter the Next Big Thing Competition!
Is your band this year's Next Big Thing?!
The Next Big Thing is back for 2014! Hell yeah!
The Next Big Thing is Future Radio's competition for new and emerging musical acts from the East of England. With previous winners such as Ed Sheeran, The Kabeedies, Raevennan Husbandes and last year’s winner The Thinking Men, the competition is set to launch again from Monday 4th August; with acts able to submit entries until Friday 2nd September.
This year, Future Radio will again be working closely with us and OPEN live venue to bring back the competition for what will be its 10th year. Future Radio is pleased to announce a new partnership with Norwich Sound & Vision 2014. http://norwichsoundandvision.co.uk/festival/
We’ll be hosting the online entry system for the competition, whilst OPEN will be providing the venue for the two semi-finals in Sept (20th & 27th), as well as the final in October in the spectacular OPEN auditorium. The final will be part of the Norwich Sound & Vision week here in Norwich, offering all those that get through to the final a fantastic opportunity to perform in front of music industry professionals coming to Norwich for the Festival.
Future Radio Station Manager, Daniele Fisichella, commented: “Last year’s Next Big Thing was such a success, I’m excited to announce the launch of this year’s competition. Future Radio’s Next Big Thing is the best up and coming music competition in the Eastern region, with a list of former winners who speak for themselves. I hope that last year’s winner The Thinking Men , may well go on to be as successful as Ed Sheeran, who won in 2008.”
Live Music Manager at OPEN, Rick Lennox, believes the importance of Future Radio’s ‘Next Big Thing’ to the region’s musical talent can’t be overstated: “It is not easy getting noticed these days so even by reaching the Semi Finals of the competition an act gains valuable awareness; playing in front of music fans, local promoters, journalists, and fellow musicians.”
Outline Magazine is chuffed to play a continuing role in the discovery of the region’s Next Big Thing. You don't have to look beyond our own regional limits to find staggering talent and musicians with national and international potential. Future Radio’s Next Big Thing brings that talent to the surface, to the attention of new fans and a wider recognition, which they deserve.
The Next Big Thing is open to all musicians – based in Norfolk or Suffolk - who can enter for a chance to win a host of prizes, including; a slot at Homegrown Festival in 2015, studio sessions at Future Studios of Norwich & OPEN studios, a professional photoshoot from JMA Photography, and a poster and flyer package worth £100 from Premier Print – with more prizes set to be announced soon.
