Edinburgh Fringe Some Acts coming to Norwich
Rowan from The Playhouse went to spot for talent, see what she picked to come to The Playhouse
With more than 50,000 performances across three weeks, the Edinburgh Festival Fringe is the biggest, boldest, and most chaotically concentrated celebration of the arts in the world.
It is also quite far away from Norwich, which is why the Playhouse team travel up every year to find the best comedy, cabaret, and theatre to bring to Norwich. We watch well over a hundred shows, and cherry-pick the best work we can get for our stage and our audience – it’s hard going, but someone has to do it…
The Fringe all about taking chances and discovering the unusual, the outlandish and the outstanding. And we have given a flavour below of some of the acts we will consequently bring to Norwich, and one which is visiting our friends at The Garage.
Jonny & The Baptists… Love Norwich & Hate B*st*rds
Gaining five star reviews for their brand-new definitely not political show, this musical comedy activist duo combine the silly and serious into catchy tunes with expert sleight of hand. We laughed till we cried!

Lou Sanders: Say Hello To Your New Step-Mummy
If you’re a fan of TaskMaster, you might recognise Lou as the latest series champion. She was also joint winner of Comedians' Choice Award for Best Show at the Edinburgh Festival Fringe in 2018, so we recommend hiding any trophies in her vicinity. Her filthy, feminist, slightly bizarre stand-up is not to be missed.
Trojan Horse
Presented by Lung Theatre Company, Trojan Horse explores the Birmingham extremism education scandal of the same name. This gripping true story uses real-life testimonies from those who were caught in the centre of the Government enquiry, and interrogates intolerance and Islamophobia, to reveal what truly happened in the schools.

Director’s Cut
A slasher spoof seventies special comes in this riotously daft show from Kill the Beast. Welcome to the worst film ever made. If you’re a fan of horror movies, or love a little bit of daft comedy, Director’s Cut is sure to delight you. A show with flair and flares!
Flo & Joan: Before the Screaming Starts
These singing sisters sold out the last time they visited Norwich, so we demanded they returned with their dark, waggish, musical comedy. In their latest show, they tackle sibling rivalry, drumkits, and Disney world in a show that left us giggling.

Square-Go
- at the Garage
Wrestling, fights by the school gates, and dads come together in one raucous mash-up of a show. This award-winning show goes to The Garage in October –
