Airbourne - Breakin' Outta Hell

Airbourne - Breakin' Outta Hell

Australia's own hard rocking, ear splitting, powerhouse of a band Airbourne return with this their fourth studio album. Renowned for their superb live performances the task as ever is can that translate to a record? With Breakin' Outta Hell the answer is largely yes.

The opener gets your blood pumping from the outset with insistent guitars, drums and ever powerful vocals from lead singer Joel O'Keeffe. The energy is almost undeniable throughout. Other choice tunes such as When I Drink I Go Crazy which talks to the inner 'just one more beer' in you and closer It's All For Rock N' Roll make you feel like the coolest person on the planet. The reason it’s only a 'largely yes' is that on repeated listens there’s a sense that the momentum which at times threatens to overwhelm you stutters somewhat. Numbers such as Never Been Rocked Like This don't have that same sense of urgency and feel just a little stale.

It's an oft repeated mantra with Airbourne that you know what you are getting; mostly killer, bit of filler. Breakin' Outta Hell prescribes to this almost exactly, a few tracks that don't quite hit the mark but when its good, my god its good.
